Proctored Exams Red Hat 

Red Hat Professional Certification Program provided by the recognized leader among all certification and training programs for open source systems. 

The Red Hat exams are hands-on lab tests that assess the knowledge and skills of Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration. The Red Hat specialist certification program is available in more than 40 countries around the world, including Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan on the basis of the authorized MUK Training Center. 

Applicants must complete a number of common system administrator tasks that will be assessed in terms of their achievement of specific results and goals.

Red Hat exams duration ranges from 2.5 to 4 hours, depending on which exam you choose. During the tests, there is no Internet access. It is not allowed to bring additional and auxiliary materials with yourself. The only documentation that deliverable with Red Hat Enterprise Linux is available. Red Hat reserves the right to make changes to the exam format, including time limits and rules.

Official exam results come exclusively from Red Hat Global Learning Services, USA. Red Hat does not authorize examiners or the training center to provide exam results directly to candidates. Exam grades are usually provided within 3-7 business days. 

Exam results are provided as grade points. Red Hat does not disclose ratings on specific topics or provide additional information upon request.

Available exams

Red Hat Certified System Administrator (EX200) Exam

The Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification is an entry-level certification aimed at beginners, Linux / Unix users. RHCSA status indicates that you have the knowledge and skills required to install, configure, and connect Red Hat Enterprise Linux workstations to an existing network environment. The RHCSA Preparation Program is the fastest way to gain a basic knowledge of Linux. 

Requirements: 

One exam is required to obtain RHCSA status. Please note that you will no longer be able to achieve the next level of Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification without passing the current version of RHCSA. 

Description: 

RHCSA exam candidates must, without assistance: 

  • Understand and use the required tools 
  • Operate running systems 
  • Perform manual configuration of local storages 
  • Create and configure file systems 
  • Deploy, configure and maintain systems 
  • Manage users and groups 
  • Manage security 

Duration of the exam: approximately 3 working hours 

The RHCSA exam is a completely hands-on exam in which the candidate must demonstrate basic system setup skills. 

To pass the Red Hat Certified System Administrator exam, you must meet the following criteria: 

  •  Successfully resolved all problems in Part I (all tasks are required). 
  •  Score 70% or higher in Part II. 

The results are processed by Red Hat Global Learning Services, USA. The results are provided to candidates within three working days from the date of the exam by email. 

Audience: 

  • Linux administrators seeking RHCSA status; 
  • Linux administrators who have certification status from a previous version and wish to upgrade. 

Preliminary preparation: 

Experience in the practical use of Linux OS and network technologies based on it (setting up a network, printing devices, managing software packages, user accounts, etc.); 

Those planning to enroll in the Red Hat Certified System Administrator Lab exam are encouraged to consider taking the exam preparation courses: 

  • RH124 Red Hat System Administration Part I 
  • RH134 Red Hat System Administration Part II 

or 

  • RH199 RHCSA Rapid Track course. 

This is not a requirement, but this step will increase your chances of passing the exam. 

We remind you that real-life administration experience is an important part of exam preparation. 

Red Hat Certified Engineer Exam (EX294) for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8

The Red Hat Certified Engineer certification is the next step in the RHCSA professional certification, which confirms the necessary knowledge and practical skills for senior system administrators responsible for IT infrastructure based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. 

Description: 

This exam tests your knowledge and skills in managing multiple systems using the Red Hat® Ansible® Engine and performing general system administration tasks on a range of systems using Ansible. The skills that are tested with this exam are the foundation for system administration in many Red Hat products. 

Upon passing this exam, administrators become Red Hat Certified Engineers. In the future, the RHCE® certificate can be a major step towards the highest level of certification – RHCA – Red Hat Certified Architect. 

This exam is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux® 8 and Red Hat Ansible Engine 2.8. 

The results are processed by Red Hat Global Learning Services, USA. The results are provided to candidates within three working days from the date of the exam by email. 

Requirements: 

  • Must have attended either RH124 Red Hat System Administration I, RH134 Red Hat System Administration II, or RH199 RHCSA Rapid Track course, or have comparable experience as a Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administrator. 
  • A Red Hat Certified System Administrator certification is a prerequisite for RHCE training. 
  • Master the course material RH294 Red Hat System Administration III: Linux Automation with Ansible or have comparable practical experience. 
  • Take the free Red Hat Assessment at https://www.redhat.com/rhtapps/assessment/ to find a course that will help you better to prepare for this exam. 

Audience: 

  • Experienced Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administrators who are seeking to test their skills or require certification from their organization or on a assignment (directive DoD 8570). 
  • Students who have completed RH294 Red Hat System Administration III: Linux Automation with Ansible and are on their way to become a Certified Red Hat Engineer (RHCE). 
  • Students on the path to become a Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA). 
  • System administrators who want to demonstrate their competence in managing multiple systems. 
  • IT professionals working in a DevOps environment who are willing to demonstrate their competence in automating some of their workload. 
  • Certified Red Hat Engineers who wish to re-qualify for RHCE.

Red Hat Certified Specialist in Linux Diagnostics and Troubleshooting Exam (EX342)

This exam tests the ability of an engineer to analyze Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® systems to solve common problems that may be referred to a third party. 

Requirements: 

Red Hat recommends that candidates for the Red Hat Certified Specialist in Linux Diagnostics and Troubleshooting certification: 

  • Have attended the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Diagnostics and Troubleshooting (RH342) course or have similar experience in solving a Red Hat Enterprise Linux deployment problems. 
  • Have a Red Hat Certified Engineer status – RHCE, or have experience in managing equivalent systems. 

Description: 

EX342 is a fully practical exam and is grouped into the following categories: 

  • Understanding and using common problem solving techniques 
  • Diagnostics and elimination of problems at system startup 
  • Diagnostics and elimination of file system problems 
  • Troubleshooting package management problems 
  • Troubleshooting network connectivity problems 
  • Diagnose application problems 
  • Identifying and fixing authentication problems 
  • Data collection for transfer to third parties 

The results are processed by Red Hat Global Learning Services, USA. The results are provided to candidates within three working days from the date of the exam by email. 

Audience: 

  •  System administrators who manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux 
  •  System administrators who want to validate problem solving and analysis skills 
  •  Red Hat Certified Engineers (RHCE) interested in Red Hat Certified Specialist in Linux Diagnostics and Troubleshooting or Red Hat Certified Architect 

Preparation: 

  • Take the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Diagnostics and Troubleshooting (RH342) course or have the similar experience in troubleshooting Red Hat Enterprise Linux deployments. 
  • Be RHCE certified or have experience in operating equivalent systems. 
Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA)

In order to become an RHCA, you must have a valid RHCE status and determine the direction: RHCA in the field of infrastructure (RHCA in Infrastructure) or RHCA in the field of corporate applications (RHCA in Enterprise Applications) and obtain any 5 certifications from the following: 

RHCA in Infrastructure: 

  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Security: Network Services 
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Directory Services and Authentication 
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in SELinux Policy Administration 
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Container Management 
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Containerized Application Development 
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Server Security and Hardening 

RHCA in Enterprise Applications: 

  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Seam 
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in ESB 
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Application Server Management 
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Container Management 

If a specialist already has RHCA status and acquires additional Certificates of Expertise, Red Hat will recognize him as a high-level specialist. For example, an active RHCA that has passed two additional Certificates of Expertise would be considered RHCA Level II.
