This is the road information modeling training course for the architectural and construction industry

The course is based on the basic information modeling principles of infrastructure facilities:

  • road digital information models creation and its analysisг
  • interdisciplinary interaction technologies and team work organisation
  • effective methods of making changes to the model and documentation
  • document execution in accordance with the state and industry regulations

The course is designed for professionals who wants to apply modern technologies in their work, reduce the number of design errors, and learn how to effectively interact with colleagues

2. Basic data сollection

  • Civil 3D point import
  • external link addition and its management
  • scanned maps addition
  • data import and other format connection – MAP tools (GIS functionality)

3. Route and its design

  • axial alignment construction of the main and secondary roads
  • the route compliance checking with the design criteria
  • alignment geometry editing tools
  • the existing center line profiles and their construction

4. Design the longitudinal road profile

  • building a design profile using the best fit method
  • the profile view display customising (including the sub-profile table)
  • building a design profile using the layout method
  • profile compliance checking with design standards and editing profile geometry

5. Automatic intersection design and their initial editing

  • a cross-section structure preparation for the main road parts and their intersections
  • building an intersection model
  • changing the road model display and its intersection

6. The road surface formation and their intersection

  • the subgrade surfaces construction and the paving top construction
  • semi-automatic determination of the road surface boundaries and intersections
  • a surface intersection editing and its bump cleanup

7. Road sections and material volumes

  • the axes section construction and earthwork calculation
  • the road surface materials calculation
  • building the cross-section types
  • section views setting up and their printing preparation

8. Widening design

  • track offset and broadening
  • reflection of the broadening in the road model
  • slope docking constructed with vertical grading tools and

9. Adding a dividing line

  • variable accountment width of the median strip

10. Implementing superelevation in the road model

  • adding a superelevation to a road alignment
  • specification of the cross-section structure parameters on a bend
  • rebuilding the road model
  • getting a bend view
