Course Overview

The Dell EMC Networking – Data Center Configuration and Administration course is part of the certification training path leading to Dell EMC Certified Specialist, Networking.

This course assists you to successfully configure, manage, and troubleshoot Dell EMC Data Center Networking products using bestpractice information. This course is delivered through instructor-led training and hands-on activities.


Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Complete an OS Installation and Implementation
  • Configure VLANs, LAG, and VLT in SmartFabric OS10
  • Configure and validate routing protocols including OSPF and BGP
  • Configuration of VRRP, PBR, and VRF
  • Apply security and QOS commands
  • Describe the basic operation of SmartFabric Services




Knowledge of Networking concepts, components and typical use cases.

Data Center Networking OverviewDescribe networking in the modern data center

  • Describe the typical data flow of a data center network
  • Identify common data center topologies
  • Describe networking technologies found in a data center network
  • Describe the Dell EMC Data Center portfolio

Basis Switch Configuration

  • Identify the normal boot process of a S and Z-Series switch running OS 10.
  • List the first-time switch setup requirements
  • Introduce OS10 CLI tool
  • Perform the setup and apply a management IP, switch name, and credentials on a S or Z Series switch
  • Perform the steps for upgrading switch firmware in OS 10

Virtual LANs

  • Identify the characteristics of a VLAN and why they are used
  • Compare the terminology around tagged vs untagged
  • Configure VLAN trunking using OS10
  • Configure VLAN Port membership using OS10
  • Verify trunking and Port Membership
  • Troubleshoot a VLAN mismatch configuration

Spanning-Tree Protocol (STP)
