Overview

The course is intended for specialists who want to apply modern technologies in their work, quickly receive initial data for a project, effectively create a concept of a future object in a 3D environment and visually present it to the customer

The course is based on the basic principles of conceptual information modeling of infrastructure facilities:

  • creation and analysis of a digital model of the existing infrastructure
  • work with point clouds and GIS data
  • road conceptual design, artificial structures and drainage systems
  • preliminary analysis of the adopted design solutions
  • the inter-program interaction technologies and the project visualisation

Used materials:

  • practical training course materials
  • useful links and tutorials

This course can be adapted according to the specialist specific activities or based on a real pilot project

Autodesk certificate is issued in electronic format after the course completion

1. Work start. Building a model of the existing infrastructure

  • purpose and main features of Autodesk Infraworks
  • overview of the functionality and interface of the program
  • overview of the coordinate systems
  • using “Model Builder” for a 3D model automatical creation of the existing infrastructure
  • 3D model manual formation of the existing infrastructure
  • sources of raw GIS data
  • vector and raster data preparation and import into the model

2. Working with styles. Analysis of the model. Working with a point cloud

  • creating and editing object styles
  • 3D model import into a style
  • style rules
  • analysis using themes and fitness maps
  • geometric analysis
  • insolation analysis
  • filter selection
  • preparation and import a point cloud into Infraworks
  • point cloud analysis
  • creating a DEM based on a point cloud
  • line and point objects extract from a point cloud
  • link point cloud to bitmaps

3. Conceptual design of roads and structures
